Old Town Theatre, also known as the J. Philip Gibbs, Jr. Centre for the Performing Arts, is a historic 348-seat gem located at 1023 12th Street in the heart of Huntsville, Texas’ downtown square. Opened in 1947 as an 832-seat movie theater, it was revitalized through a million-dollar renovation by the Friends of Old Town Theatre, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. This intimate venue now hosts a variety of live performances, including plays, musicals, concerts, comedy shows, and film screenings like the Prison City Film Festival. Its classic movie theater charm, adorned with vintage posters and photos, pairs with excellent acoustics and comfortable seating to create a nostalgic yet modern experience.
