Jay is one of the founding members of Already Gone, but his professional career started much earlier, with his first live performance at age 5 in a talent show in his native Louisiana. He sang "Hey Good Looking" by Hank Williams and accompanied himself on guitar. (No word on whether he won.) His professional recording career also began that year as the youngest member ever of the St. Peter's School Marching Band, playing trumpet. By the time he started college, he had switched to bass and was touring regionally, supporting acts like Acid Bath, Lillian Axe, and Razor White.
He relocated to Houston in 2000 for a job and took a few years off to start a family. In 2004, he joined a Beatles tribute that included original Already Gone members Bill Thompson, Harris White, and Clint McMullen, setting the stage for the formation of Already Gone in 2006 with the addition of Clint Springer.
