Our new song is on YouTube (link below) – now some details about the recording:
- the original version of the song is really short, so we extended it by doing two guitar solos at the end, first one by Harry and then one by Clint.
- our version has more of a New Orleans swing/shuffle feel to it, thanks to Leroy‘s drumming, Johnny‘s piano work and Jay’s ’50’s style bass arrangement. Johnny also did the string arrangement.
- the backup vocals were recorded by Jay and Leroy – they recorded their parts to multiple tracks and even switched parts on some of the takes, to make the backups sound “big” when all the tracks were combined.
- Clint NAILED the lead vocals in only a couple of takes. He’s always a perfectionist in the studio when it comes to his vocals, and he would keep doing additional takes all night if we let him!
- the song was recorded and mixed at Sound Arts Recording by the inimitable (look it up) Brian Baker in the fall of 2022.
